Emau Hill – New Medical Centre
Emau Hill is a village up in the hills, and access is via a steep mud forest track with 13 switch back bends. The nearest medical centre is 30mins from the bottom of the hill, and therefore takes over an hour from the top. This is also extremely difficult in bad weather, when the time can increase to 3-4 hours, and the journey can be near impossible. A dispensary at the top of the hill would provide much needed facilities for the local community of approx. 15,000
The build would need to concentrate on Maternity / diagnoses section first as this is the most needed, but if a grant from Guernsey could be obtained, then wards etc could also be built.
Once built, the Catholic Church will provide accommodation for two medical people, and the Government will fund two medical people.
Camping would be on the playing field, and the toilets and showers for the centre would need to be completed before the team arrives. Safety and security are very good. Water would be from pipe run down the hill. Food supply fair.
The project would be run on the ground by the local Catholic Priest - Father Baruti
We don't have any pictures of the centre, as it is a new build. But the pictures below are from the general area, and of Father Baruti
